Collective buying of art supplies?
Thats one good reason for artists to get together.
I would like to meet with other local to Norman, OK area Artists who are interested in putting our shopping lists and resources together. Initially this started as a discussion about how difficult it is to afford art supplies. Also, the topic of ethical businesses to choose from, and the lack of local choices for art supplies was agreed to be a challenge. If you are looking for an alternative to Hobby Lobby or Michaels, or you simply wish to take advantage of cooperative buying power, please let me know! As soon as I have gotten enough responses to plan a meeting I will do so!
Art as a Family Tradition
Maudie Sallee was well known within her community as being a passionate artist and powerful priestess. The majority of her artwork consisted of representations of dieties and landscapes. Her paintings were highly influenced by her spirituality and her love of reading. Pouring through entire works of sci-fi & fantasy authors, she collected so many books that when she passed away, I donated a whole truckload of paperbacks to the local library, on her behalf.
My childhood is full of memories of visiting my mother in her studio and watching her paint. I was raised to appreciate art as a healthy way of expressing one's emotions. Over time my passion to share the
healthy expression of art with others has grown to become a family tradition I believe is worth sharing. If you are interested in checking out the art of Maudie Sallee, I made this site a few years ago, but thanks to the neverending internet, it still exists.

When visiting the Fire Well and other households within our community, you will be pleased to see that the creation and celebration of art is a practice that we promote within our greater intentional family. We display art from several generations and enjoying gathering to create art as a group. As more is created, we will post photographs in our virtual gallery. Many artists will be willing to barter or sell their work. So if you like something, speak up!
If you are a member, and an artist, and your stuff isnt in our gallery... Why? We would love to include you. So email me and lets make
that happen!
